My Experience With Scott Hazard Torn Photos

PHOTO #1

This is the first photo I took, this is the bulletin board outside of the staff room. I decided to make a whole in this because it's a plain background so it would look simple and I could make it really deep. In photoshop I made 8 layers and then I cut them out and changed the shadowing on each one so it would look like it was going in. I used the burn tool for the inner layers because darkness makes it look deeper. This was a long but fast process where you can use your creativity to make it into something cool.

 PHOTO #2

This is the second photo I took, it's of the sky outside of the art room, I wanted to make a hole in the sky because its different. I liked how it was cloudy that day because then it looked stormy so the hole looks more naturally. I used the same steps in photoshop as above except I burned all the layers since it's a darker photo.

PHOTO #3

This is my third photo I took. This one was a lot harder to do because the garbage bag was crinkly and had uneven tones. I wanted to make it seems like the bag was ripping but it didn't turn out like I wanted it to, I made the lines to straight and even. I used the same steps as above and burned the middle the most.

PHOTO #4

This is the fourth photo I took, I took a picture of the carpet outside of my photography last because I wanted to make it look like theres  a whole in the floor. In photoshop I used the same steps in the first one. I used a lot of layers because I wanted to make it seem very dark and I wanted the middle to seem dark.

PHOTO #5

This is the last photo I used, this is my least favourite photo because the picture is to busy, I shouldn't have used peoples faces. I did this one as a practice photo because I wasn't sure if was going to work out so I used it to test out different shadows. I used the most layers on this photo because it was the test photo.

Scott Hazard Critique

 Scott Hazard Critique

Photo #1
This is a photo by Scott Hazard, he used photoshop to make it look like the sky is a tunnel. I chose this as one of my four photos because it's off to the side and it looks unique instead of just straight on hole. When he made this photo he used the perfect spacing, it all comes together and the shades blend well. I like how he used a plain background because it makes it look less busy. The tree in the corner brings the picture together because it gives me an idea that it is a sky not just a blue background. I wouldn't change anything about this photo, it's my favourite photo by him.

Photo #2
This is the second photo I chose by Scott Hazard. I chose it because the hole has lots of depth to the photo without using lots of layers. The red picture really contrasts with the green tree which makes it pop even more. Scott Hazard changes his photos a lot, none of them are identical, each photo has a different meaning and a different pattern or idea. One thing I would change about this photo is I would add more shadow to make it look even deeper

Photo #3
This is the third photo I chose by Scott Hazard. I chose this photo because he made the hole work with the photo, he added detail to make the picture even better. The hole represents smoke coming out of the chimney. I really love how the photo is black and white because it looks old fashion since smoke doesn't come out of chimneys anymore. I like how even though the clouds are the biggest thing is the picture, the chimney and the smoke stand out more.  One thing I would change is I would add other small holes of smoke around the big whole so it look larger.

Photo #4
This is the last photo I like by him, It looks like there is a hole in the door. This is a creative photo because it's ironic because it looks you don't even need to open the door, you could just walk right through the door. I like all the brick because it seems like it was taken in a nice europe country or something. I really like how in goes in on a slant because it looks more realistic like the brick was broken in.
